Christmas Tree Concert in Hamilton’s Garden Place

It’s 27 metres tall to the tip of the star. That’s over 6 stories high. It takes a team of 15 people to install the frame and the lighting, fluff the branches and hang the baubles. This tree is huge! The tree dominates Garden Place once again in 2020 and will be a great focal point for the community to gather, watch, perform and celebrate the festive season. The tree will light up for the first time on Saturday 28th November 2020 with a special event that includes the opportunity to sing some favourite Christmas carols. The Christmas Tree continues to light up the December nights right through to New Year. This year we will be celebrating on Saturday 28th November 2020 SOURCE   https://youtu.be/OxFpab3Ja8g By Berry & Coffee

Lightshow in Hamilton Gardens by KALEIDO

KALEIDO is the animation creation headed by Paul Cleland and Jasmine Gill. This showcase of kaleidoscopic renewal is set to light up the Hamilton Gardens Italian Renaissance Pavilion come 2021’s Te Ruru Light Festival. With amazing animation sequences set to blow your mind and accompanying reactive sound, supplied by music producer Reuben Gilchrist. This projection will shatter the illusion of three-dimensional space by morphing a solid structure in front of your eyes and stretching the limits of what modern graphic design is capable of.

Bugs! Our Backyard Heroes

Bugs may have a reputation for being small, scaly and scary but some creepy crawlies are actually superheroes in disguise! Bugs! Our Backyard Heroes is a family-friendly, hands-on educational experience that brings visitors face-to-face with some real live mini-monsters. The exhibition explores the secret world of bugs and the vital role they play in our lives without us even realising it! Featuring ‘Eugene’, the giant centipede, and his friends the tree weetaa, stick insects, locusts, crickets, cockroaches and Avondale spiders, the exhibition provides an opportunity to learn about different native species of bugs in New Zealand and the sometimes precarious position they hold in the ecosystem. There are plenty of hands-on activities for youngsters to get involved in, including how to become a citizen scientist and how bugs inspire those on the frontline of technology. Education programmes are available for this exhibition.  (Developed and toured by Puke Ariki. Photo…
